1997, Stuck in Bangor N. Wales, no musical friends, no hope, working for Tesco.
Boy was I missing making music. Grandpa Lloyd died, left us a bit of money (killed
the overdraft and left a wee bit over) to by a guitar and practice amp. Fuck it
thought I - bought a small book of chords and learnt a number of major key scales.
As for stringing them together musically, it never really bothered me. Noise and
experimenting were the order of the day. Did it for a while, recorded loads of
music, gave myself the name Meltwater (watching a documentary on glaciers) and
bought a 4 track.
Got some interest from friends' friends and started to form a band. At our height
we had 4 members - me (again,) Dave Hollins (northern git originally in a band
called Easy Meat who at least released a single,) Lee Chick (Charlie Brown, Jack)
and Chris Nurse (Charlie Brown.) As a band we only recorded about 5 or 6 tracks.
On my own I recorded 10 or 11 tracks.
We embraced experimentation and post rock willingness. Samples, drum beats and
give it a go, even if you can't quite manage it. By now you are desperate to hear
the music we made.
If you pop over to our mp3.com
site you can download a few tracks as a taster, or better still, you can by one
of the Meltwater albums I put together there.

I also designed a load of nice covers for the demos, posters, graphics and stuff.

We never really split up, as we weren't really a band to start with, Meltwater
is maybe gone, maybe sleeping. Only time will tell...
