After Charlie Brown had kind of dissolved, myself and ex Brownie rhythm guitarist
Chris Nurse got together
to rue the fact we had failed to get into Art college that year and to indulge
our love of all things Gaye Bykers like.
I had some basic PA equipment, a drum machine, a couple of cheap Casio samplers,
the odd foot pedal and a stereo to record on. We taped a load of vocal samples
from our favourite movies, made some basic drum loops and fiddled with the samplers.
Neither of us played keyboards, which is evident, but on a strictly ideas level,
we had some good ones.
Our method of multi tracking was pretty basic. It involved recording one track
at a time, and then playing it back on a second cassette whilst playing the next
rack and recording both together. This method rendered all further mixing pretty
impossible!
Last year I was digitizing the original master tape when I decided we should have
our own fitting memorial to the fun summer we'd had making our unholy noise. I
set up a mp3.com
page for us, which meant we also needed a name. I choose the name of two of the
old Clifton Street tramps - we both loved the names and it seemed to fit.
I also made some swanky graphics for the page, which you can see below - click
on them to visit our mp3.com page and listen to our deranged noise.

As for which one of us is Kung Fu Eddie and which one is the Eggs And Bacon Man,
well, I will leave that too you...
