My paintings have
developed over many years, taking their themes from many places. Half remembered
dreams, childhood jeopardy and Welsh myths mix with the mundane and everyday.
I use my photographs and imagination as the main inspiration for my paintings.
I like to think of my style as surreal realism.
They have got stronger over the years, as well as more tight and less frequent.
I'm not a very good painter. As long as I can get the image across, with my strong
sense of light, drama and narrative, then I am happy. I don't aim to be an old
master.
Without the ability to work full time on developing, they have taken a back seat.
Everything I do creatively is tied in with the same themes and impulses, whether
painting, photography, music or writing, so although painting is no longer my
main creative output, I am still using the principles and ideas in my everyday
creativity.
